Richard’s advocacy of creativity and innovation in business is backed up by extensive experience in product, programme and change management, process improvement, and measuring performance.
Richard was a founding Partner and is now retired from Achieving the Difference but his specialist skills remain available to clients. He has held senior executive and board level positions – including directorship of LSE listed companies – in sales, marketing and general management with companies such as Orange, Multitone, Plessey and Custom Sound. His early career was playing blues harmonica and managing bands in the rock music business, publishing and industrial engineering.
Richard has studied at Ashridge and Henley Management Colleges after graduating from the University of Birmingham with a joint honours degree in social sciences and philosophy, having initially studied Industrial Engineering. He is a Certified NLP Master Practitioner, is a member of the Institute of Directors, the Chartered Management Institute and a Companion of the Institute of Sales and Marketing Management. He is also trained as an EFQM internal assessor and is a Certified ORB Auditor for the awarding of the Responsible Business Standard to businesses.
He was a member of the CBI South-West Regional Council. He is also GLAmbassador for GFirst, the Gloucestershire LEP, where he is also Chair of the BMG Advisory Group to the LEP. He is registered with GrowthAccelerator as a coach/mentor and is a registered consultant with MAS (Manufacturing Advisory Service). Richard sits on the steering group for the successful annual Growing Gloucestershire Conference. He also represents the CBI on the South Gloucestershire Economy & Skills Partnership.
Richard was a volunteer photographer for English Heritage and maintains his interest in photography. He is married to the author, Dinah Jefferies, whose works are published by Penguin Viking in the UK & Commonwealth as well as being published in Germany, France, Norway and Italy and supports her as business advisor.
Richard’s delight is to enable companies to significantly improve business performance by total alignment of the organisation around customer and market focus.
